Problem Definition Large hospital complexes span hundreds of thousands of square meters across numerous departments, housing many patients. It is impossible to guarantee a constant overview of everyone’s vital signs or to ensure timely arrival at the emergency room during a medical crisis. If a patient’s oxygen saturation drops while walking, clinic staff will not know the location or current vital signs of the unconscious patient. Furthermore, they often do not initially know what a critical patient is lacking—whether oxygen saturation dropped, blood pressure fell, or cardiac failure occurred.

Solution In hospitals, tracking systems ensure optimal protection and freedom of movement for critically ill patients. Telemetry devices worn around the patient’s neck are equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, allowing individual devices—and consequently the patients—to be located automatically.

Additionally, vital patient data (heart rate, SpO2, and blood pressure) can be read directly on the device or via a browser application. In emergencies, such as a drop in blood pressure or oxygen saturation, an alert is automatically triggered to notify hospital staff. If the patient is away from their original ward during the event, the nearest nurse will still be alerted.
