Why it matters
Conventional smoke detectors work well in the exact spot they’re mounted. Open floors, yards, and large rooms need something that watches the whole area.
Open warehouses and outdoor storage yards often can’t be practically covered by point-type detectors at all — smoke has to reach the sensor first.

An extra layer, not a certified replacement
Visual smoke detection sees what a camera can see, so it’s a strong way to cover open areas, yards, and large rooms that point-type detectors can’t practically reach. In enclosed spaces already fitted with certified smoke alarms, it’s best run as an additional layer — wider situational awareness on top of your life-safety systems, not a substitute for them.
